Word of caution

There have been lately many threads in the official MC forums about people getting their accounts hacked so as a word of advice: change your password into something hard to crack. They seem to mainly just bruteforce (well I don't know for sure) the accounts so using complex password with uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers in it would be safer. It also appears that our accounts are authenticated through http without any kind of encryption at login (I actually tested this with a protocol analyzer and it's true) so Notch may have a rather large job ahead to make the accounts safer. In the meantime the best you can do is to keep your computer clean of all kinds of keyloggers, malware and viruses (and not visit any shady "freeminecraft.com" websites.)

I have no idea how widespread this whole thing is, could be just individual cases but I wanted to let you guys know. :)
