Building a Colliseum

I've decided I'm going to create an adventure map for us all to play on.

The basic idea is a fighting colliseum. You enter a room where you can select your weapon of choice and put your armor on. You then enter an arena and fight through waves of mobs, entering each spawn cave, killing the mob spawner, and flipping a switch to open the next door.

i want to make a "Protect the house from zombies / other mobs maybe" mode. like resident evil. And a spleef arena :D

btw, can this type of maps become Multiplayer and Official server for the page?
(just wondering) maybe if there is a really really cool map worth making it multiplayer so you enjoy it with others, like fighting with friends against creep waves, or something that is player versus player like spleef, or some future CTF, It can be part of the minecraftnews.net official servers in the future (when we get more members and maybe the donation option so who-ever that pays for it can support the bill)

@howl It could be multiplayer yes, but you'll need to convince robin to load it.
If I'm going to make a multiplayer stage I'm going to make a game world. Where there are several things to do.

@Person Im thinking of making it so you have to pick one of two doors for items, one had diamond armor and arrows, the other iron armor and a diamond sword to add some balance to the combat. Heavy Defence, light weapons or light defence heavy weapons.

Ofcourse that if Robin decides it is worth it and if he can do it (that is why i said when minecraft.net is bigger, there will be more chances to do new servers) :)

Oh sorry howl lol. I dont make it, it's just singleplayer. Adventure mode hasn't been release yet, but Notch will sometime after BETA. However some people have already made maps for it.

Ye this would be an awesome map to play, I would love it, and I would pick the bow and arrows! Love the bow, And when all this is possible in SMP I would love to load the amp for a turnament or such :)

CTF is possible still howl, very possible. I could do it.

Pick up the red block... Try to carry back to your base. Defender could kill you and reset it. Yeah, very possible!

Thats a great SMP idea time. What I was thinking, is each team is given a map to build on, and they have to create a base for their flag and rig it with traps to try and protect it. Like tomb raiding, the team that makes the deadliest "temple" wins. Players could even exhange them between each other to try and beat the others maze

Good idea, but
i was thinking in a CTF pvp mode, i think it is much more fun because you get to fight other players, you get to help your teammates, and something that will be hard to implement is to let players build their own bases, Why hard to implement? well, because there can be unfair players who will just cover their flag with a lot of stone so no one reaches, so a lot of rules must be implemented. meanwhile you can try to make the CTF PvP mode with premeditated maps, so each team is given a base to protect, and a lot of supplies (armor, weapons, CANNONS implemented with your base, etc... :D)

Would be fun to make two bases with traps and such, and have pvp on top of that. Fighting a player in a tomb riddled with traps ? YES PLEASE!

Haha for sure. A persistent war server. You need to constantly defend your makeshift bases from invading enemy forces. You can defend even when you aren't online with landmines, lava traps, etc. :D

Oh yes! and imagine how powerful castles would be! They'd be a major force to mess with because they'd be amazingly hard to build unless you had some serious firepower behind you.

I've actually been working on a cannon project if that even happens X]. I fired it for the first time today, 10000 capacity load. 5 minutes of solid "minecraft is not responding" only to pop me to a respawn screen, and a massive crater where the cannon was lol. I made it so it fired straight forward, I'd hoped to use it like a.... artillery of sorts. Except the tnt started to detonate inside the barrel chamber before it would leave, leading to a catastrophic systems failure =(

Yeah lol, I always loved shows, games, and books that involved a massive energy cannon, and TNT is as close as it gets =p. I love the idea of having a weapon so powerful it can wipe a city off the map. Just imagine it? Two kingdoms build around me, both friendly and I help them a bunch. Than one starts bullying other users, and becomes arrogant? So I swing my banhammer and send them away leaving their castle empty? No.....although I do like the idea of abandoned buildings lol. I'd much rather humble them, by flipping a switch and reducing their kingdom to a hole in the ground >=)

It's nothing like that at all, I can read a post and know who wrote it just be reading it. To me I can pick up emotions hidden in text, as well as pick up on regional differences, such as slightly different wording. It's really not hard to memorize how someone write, millions of people do it without realizing it when they have favourite authors.
