For me: the best PVP game ever
Does any one plays it? it is one of my favorite games besides World of warcraft and minecraft :)
im freaking excited about DotA 2 !!!!!!!!

The game is an RPG (oldschool, which means you start from lvl 1 each time you play a match), 5vs5, and you got to destroy the enemy base

Update: here is an epic video with some gameplay, if you have not played DotA you might not understand whats going on, since it has tons of different mechanichs with each hero/ability, anyway, it is always cool to watch :)

it is an extremely awesome and free WarcraftIII mod map (like counter strike), which is very popular right now, it requieres a lot of BOTH strategy and ability
is the only game i have ever seen that includes both of them :) Thought the game is so popular that there have been 2 fail and unoficial remakes (heroes of newerth, league of legends), and right now Valve is making another remake, which seems legit because the main developer is a guy called IceFrog, and he is the one who has been developing DotA, oh, and he works completly alone, like Notch, haha

Oh, ok, u got no idea of how the game is xD sorry, it is an Rpg, the best Rpg game ever, the game it self is a match, so you play matches in teams of
5vs5, everytime u start a game every player gets to pick a hero (there are aaround 100 at the momment :D) and everyone starts from lvl 1. The objective of the game is to destroy the other team's base. The map is like a battlefield with lanes, in each lane creep waves are released automatically, u cant control them and the creep waves always encounters an other creep wave from the other team in the middle of the lane. Every hero has to lvl up by farming this creeps, you can also go into a forest and kill neutral creeps (but only some heroes can do this without getting underleveled), you can also kill the enemy's team heroes, which give you and your teammates money and experience, each hero has 4 special abilities and 6 items slots (i dont know how many items are in the game, but at least 400 items and recipes), also, each hero has its very own role (supportive, carry, tank, dps...) and way of playing it.
The game requires skill ofcourse, but teamwork is the most important factor, ok, i know it might not sound so good, an explanation like this is barely descriptive about the basics.
you got to watch some vids or play the game to understand it :) there are tournaments going around like always, the game is part of the ESWC, and... i dont know what else to mention right now, this is the official page of the game, you may like to check it www.playdota.com

oh dude, that is such a .... idk question, hehe, this is actually the disadvantage of the game (it has stopped many of my friends that i suggested Dota
:( and it is very discouraging at the begging, specially with a lot of noobs blaming you)
it is man, and a lot, i had to learn it the hard way by playing online and getting blamed a lot and having a score like: 2kills 11deaths
also, reading guides helps A LOOOT, try looking on playdota.com
it is very hard because every hero has its very unique abilities and gameplay, and since there are thousands of items, you need to know what fits each hero :/ also, some hero abilities are really hard to master, also, to be a really good player, you must know your enemy, so you know what his role is and how it affects you, and also his abilities so he doesnt surprises you with some sort of Nuke
btw, each 5vs5 match lasts around 30 to 40 minutes, if it is competitive it lasts around 55mins
and the shortest match i have played was 15 mins
something else, Valve is working with Icefrog on making Dota 2 (as i already explained) so they make Dota's own plataform, so it stops being a mod. In DotA 2 it will be so much easier to learn because of some Couching system and guides and tutorials :)

ok DotA is completely free mod map from Warcraft III, you can download it here: www.getdota.com (you need warcraft III the frozen throne To play it)
And the remake of Dota, "Dota 2" which is made by valve (and it is not out yet) is buy-able.
So it is like Counter strike, because counter strike is actually a Half Life mod turned into a game

Actually DotA 2 is going to be rip off of LoL cuz of lack of ideas and CS is slowly losing its players.
I have readed some forums and ppl are just giving ideas like "4 skills and a passive !", "Skins Plox!!" etc.
And in-game talk system is going to be fail, more spaming kids like in CS or L4D

Anyway why are you comparing new game to the older, its obvious that dota is in some tournaments but lol entered such tournament as WCG way faster.

I think you're just jelous that DotA can't catch up LoL, i can also say that CS is a rip off of games like doom and wolvenstein because they were one of first FPS and WC3 is rip off of Dune... Games like dota and lol are called MOBA, so stop talking s**t like this cuz its pathetic.
There are always newer games that are better, but some of them are fails, so dont expect too much from DotA2

LoL is free anyway. I play WC3 on any other maps but i prefer to play lol than dota.
